Between two teams and two groups of people who didn’t need to be aggressive but rather convinced of their possibilities. And that both got an opportunity to win. Without resorting to WAR.
The mean government
Then what we got is a government that wants to be known for its meanness. And not against the ‘strong powers’ : the banks, the financial world, the elite involved in corruption and not paying taxes. Or, in the international scene, the Putins, the Trumps, the Merkels. No, the government’s enemies are the poor people. Migrants, peddlers, petty thieves, gypsy, pubblic officials (in the low grades).
It is nothing new, but it is difficult to accept, though.
Problem is: will Italian people support the meanness approach?

There is a judge in Berlin
As much as one can not like Mr Puigdemont very much, that one orchestrated in Spain against Catalunya indipendentist is a judicial persecution. Wisely enough, they had withdrawn their request of extradition while Puigdemont and company were in Belgium but now they tried again in Germany, probably counting on political linkages and support.
They were wrong. There is a judge in Berlin and he said what anybody could have confirmed: the independence movement in Catalunya could be wrong, could have broken some laws and regulations, might have not respected the will and right of many Catalan citizens but was indeed a political process publicly presented to the citizenship and public opinion from the beginning and having got a majority of votes in the local Parliament. And, probably the most important, did not use violence. Let’s hope that could continue.
