In the place were we are living at present (rue François Delcoigne) the municipality is planting trees all along the street.
When I have seen the first one, I thought it was for Christmas, even if it was not really the proper tree, and then I realised how good would be to ‘adjourn’ the tradition and have every family planting once per year a real tree somewhere is needed, rather than buying a poor thing to suffer in the sitting room for some weeks.
Planting trees is a rewarding activity which involves our relation with the earth, the nature, the cosmos; is a fundamental experience taking us back to an ancient way of life.
And those trees will remain for longer than us, will be a tangible memory of our passing by.
