500 redundant meters

The train connecting Fiumicino with Termini stops on a remote way, almost five hundreds meters from the main station alley, the bus stops etc.

Why?

Is this a warning to foreigners coming to Italy; a way of saying: “do not expect services working properly in this land”?

Is a matter of inducing tired travellers to physical exercise, trailing heavy baggage along a dark, quite dirty and uninteresting passage?

Or is it, once again, an achievement of the taxi-drivers’ connection, accused by the voice of the people to oppose with all means the set up of that train link?

Anyway, 500 meters too much.
