The lost sense of proportion

Some sport achievements are indeed quite epic. This is the case for a gold medal at the olympic games or for winning the Paris-Roubaix.

I can understand the emotions, the stress, the exhaltation but still, from big performers, one could expect some restraint.

Nowadays any limit seems to be forgotten. Maybe the pressure of media, may be the sponsors. But also the exagerated emphasis on such a result.

Sobriety seems not to be the prevailing custom anymore.
